Mother of Disappeared Baloch Student Demands Justice

SHAAL (QUETTA): In press conference held at the protest camp of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) in Quetta, Mah Jabeen Baloch, the mother of a forcibly disappeared student, appealed to state authorities for the immediate recovery of her son, Aimal son of Aurangzeb, who was allegedly abducted by Pakistani security forces.

According to Mah Jabeen, armed men in plain clothes raided their home around midnight, detained her son without presenting a warrant or legal notice, and forcibly took him to an unknown location  all in front of the family.

“Today, I stand before you not as a political figure, but as a mother,” she told journalists. “My son Aimal, a student, was abducted before my eyes. There were no warrants, no court orders. Only guns and brutality.”

She further revealed that when the family questioned the personnel or tried to intervene, they were threatened, abused and had their mobile phones confiscated to prevent them from calling for help or documenting the incident.

The case, according to Mah Jabeen, may also be linked to the activism of her daughter, Fatima, a vocal participant in peaceful protests and rallies for missing persons in Balochistan. “Is this the punishment for her voice? Has this country become so intolerant that even constitutionally protected demands for justice are met with kidnappings and violence?”

She strongly condemned the abduction, calling it an extrajudicial and unconstitutional act, and urged state institutions to follow due process. “If my son is guilty of any crime, produce him in court,” she said. “Those who violated the sanctity of our home must be held accountable.”

The press conference highlighted ongoing concerns over enforced disappearances in Balochistan, where families have long accused Pakistani security agencies of detaining individuals without legal procedures and denying their whereabouts.

Mah Jabeen vowed to continue her struggle until Aimal is safely returned. “I will not sit quietly. This fight will continue until my son is brought back.”

In her concluding remarks, she appealed to journalists, human rights organisations, and the people of Balochistan to stand in solidarity with her and other affected families. “We need your voices in this struggle for justice.”
