Baloch Man Killed Hours After Enforced Disappearance in Awaran
SHAAL (QUETTA): Ghulam Jan, a resident of Karkian Khad in Tehsil Kolwah, Awaran district, was extrajudicially killed just hours after being forcibly disappeared on Saturday.
According to local sources, Jan the son of Bejjar Baloch originally from the mountainous Pahu area, was abducted in broad daylight by state-backed death squads operating under the protection of the Pakistani armed forces.
Witnesses and human rights activists claim Jan had been subjected to persistent harassment by security forces. His family was previously displaced from their native village due to ongoing military intimidation.
Later that evening, Jan’s bullet-riddled body—bearing visible signs of torture—was discovered in the Kuli area of Kolwah. The killing is seen by activists as part of a broader and alarming pattern of enforced disappearances followed by extrajudicial executions in Balochistan.
Local residents and human rights organisations have condemned the incident, calling it part of a systematic campaign of violence targeting the Baloch population.
They have demanded an independent investigation and urged the international community to take notice of the continuing human rights violations in the region.
