Baloch Students Front Condemns Ongoing State Crackdown Against Baloch Students
SHAAL (QUETTA): The Baloch Students Front (BSF) has issued a strong condemnation of intensifying state repression in Balochistan, accusing Pakistani authorities of systematically targeting Baloch students and political activists through a range of coercive tactics.
In a statement released to the press, the BSF spokesperson said that the state is employing increasingly aggressive measures to silence peaceful dissent in the province. “It is no longer limited to enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings,” the statement read. “Now, students are being expelled from educational institutions, profiled, and subjected to continuous harassment.”
The organisation expressed grave concern over the ongoing detention of its central chairman, Javed Baloch, who was abducted from his residence on April 23, 2025. According to BSF, he was subjected to violence during the abduction and has been held in secret state custody for over three months without being presented before any court.
The statement also noted the enforced disappearance of BSF Shaal Zone’s General Secretary, Gwahram Ishaq, who was taken from Quetta Civil Hospital on April 24, 2025. Despite legal efforts—including court hearings, FIR registration, and peaceful protests—the authorities have not provided any information about his whereabouts or initiated any visible steps toward his release.
In response, BSF organised a campaign on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to raise awareness about the disappearances of Javed Baloch and Gwahram Ishaq. The group called on national and international human rights organisations, social activists, and student groups to speak out against enforced disappearances in Balochistan and to take meaningful action to protect Baloch students.
