Balochistan: Wave of Enforced Disappearances Continues, Families Stage Protests

SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: The issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan continues unabated, with fresh cases emerging from Khuzdar and Kech districts. Families of the disappeared have taken to the streets, blocking major highways and demanding the safe recovery of their loved ones.

According to reports from Khuzdar, the family of Huzaifa Ghaffar, who was picked up by Pakistani security forces and intelligence agencies on November 5, 2025, from Naal Darnili, staged a protest by blocking the Naal section of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) road. The demonstrators were joined by local residents, bringing traffic to a halt and causing long queues of vehicles on both sides of the highway.

Protesters demanded the immediate and safe recovery of Huzaifa Ghaffar and condemned the systematic campaign of enforced disappearances targeting Baloch youth. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) publicly announced its support for the demonstration.

Meanwhile, in another incident, the elected Vice Chairman of Kech Union Council Galli Kucha, Pazir Nasir Palizai, has been forcibly disappeared for the second time. Family members said that Pazir Nasir went missing on November 8, 2025, around 3 p.m., after dropping his young son at a local seminary in Kahuda Yousuf Borough. Since then, his whereabouts remain unknown, and his phone has been switched off.

Relatives confirmed that all attempts to trace him have failed.

This is the second time Palizai has gone missing — he was previously detained by security forces in Gwadar on February 4, 2025, and released about a month later on September 7, following widespread protests by the Haq Do Tehreek Balochistan (Balochistan Rights Movement) outside the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Gwadar.

Human rights groups and Baloch activists have repeatedly expressed concern over the persistence of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, urging authorities to investigate the cases transparently and ensure accountability. However, despite recurring protests and promises of action, little progress has been made in resolving these cases.
