Baloch Students held a peace march in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Baloch Students Council (BSC) Islamabad held a peace march in the capital today to draw attention to the case of Saeed Baloch, a fellow student who, according to the group, was arrested and forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces nearly five months ago.

The march was attended by hundreds of students, activists, and supporters calling for Saeed’s immediate release and urging authorities to address what they describe as a growing pattern of enforced disappearances targeting Baloch students.

For the past nine days, members of the BSC have been staging a continuous sit-in protest at QAU, maintaining pressure on the administration and government officials to take action. The group insists that despite repeated appeals, no meaningful progress has been made in Saeed’s case.

On Monday, the BSC issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the QAU administration. The students demanded that the university submit a pending committee report on Saeed’s disappearance to the High Court, a step they say is required to advance the legal process.

According to the BSC, the university will remain fully functional during the ultimatum period, and the sit-in will continue peacefully. However, leaders of the council warned that if the administration fails to submit the report within the deadline, the group will be “compelled to take a strict step,” though they did not elaborate on what actions might follow.

University officials have not yet publicly responded to the ultimatum.

The situation remains tense as the deadline approaches, with students reiterating their call for transparency, accountability, and the safe recovery of Saeed Baloch.
