Balochistan: New Surge in Enforced Disappearances, four individuals including a woman abducted
SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: Human rights groups and families have expressed concerns over a widening series of enforced disappearances across Balochistan, involving a security guard, a writer, a woman, and a fisherman.
Families demand transparency, legal due process and the immediate recovery of their loved ones.
Pakistani forces abducted Qasim son of Nabi Bakhsh, a fisherman from Ward No.3, in Pasni, Balochistan, on 2 December 2025.
According to local sources and family members, Qasim had returned to shore on Tuesday morning after spending eight days fishing at sea. Around 9 a.m., he went to the main bazaar on a motorcycle with a friend to buy breakfast and take his friend for an eye examination.
Eyewitnesses report that Pakistani Army personnel detained him in broad daylight near the bus stand, in front of a medical store, while he was buying medicine.
Since the arrest, authorities have provided no information about Qasim’s health or location. His family expressed concern that his mobile phone continues to come online intermittently, something they believe indicates he is in the custody of state institutions.
The family demanded that if any charges exist, they should be declared openly and Qasim should be presented before a court according to legal procedure. They vow to continue all peaceful and legal efforts until he is safely recovered.
On the same day, in Khuzdar, a woman named Farzana daughter of Muhammad Bakhsh Zehri, was taken into custody by Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel during the night of 2 December 2025 and subsequently disappeared. Her family has appealed for her safe recovery.
Previously, there have also been incidents of abductions of women in Balochistan, including the Mah Jabeen Baloch and Nasreena Baloch, who have still not been recovered. Regional analysts say that such incidents indicate a serious violation of human rights and a worrying trend.
Two days earlier, in Panjgur, Baloch writer Sajid Ahmad, a resident of Shahi Tump, Tubat, was allegedly abducted by Pakistani forces from the M8 Road. His whereabouts remain unknown, and his family continues to seek information about his condition.
Sajid Ahmad completed his Master’s degree from the International Islamic University, Islamabad, and wrote his research paper on “Women’s Right to Education in District Kech, Balochistan.” He has authored several articles in English and is also a well-known Balochi language writer.
The sequence of events began on 29 November 2025, when Nabeel Baloch son of Abdul Ghani and a resident of Sargwath, Kalri, Lyari, was abducted in Karachi.
According to relatives, security agencies and Rangers detained him around 8 a.m. in front of Dua Hotel on Mauripur Road.
Nabeel, a security guard, is said to have no involvement in any illegal activity. His family describes the situation as emotionally and financially devastating.
Human rights observers have urged the government to investigate these cases of abductions transparently and to address the growing crisis of disappearances across Balochistan.
