VBMP Protest Camp Marks 6,088th Day as Families Renew Call for Recovery of Loved Ones

SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: The protest camp organised by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances in Balochistan continued for the 6,088th consecutive day on Tuesday in front of the Quetta Press Club.

The camp, led by VBMP Executive Committee member Niaz Muhammad, remains one of the longest-running protest demonstrations in the country, with families of missing persons regularly participating to demand the recovery of their loved ones.

During the day, social activist Comrade Manzoor Baloch visited the camp and expressed solidarity with the families affected by enforced disappearances.

The mother and daughter of forcibly disappeared Mahmood Ali Lango also attended the protest and recorded their demonstration. Speaking at the camp, they said they have repeatedly approached government authorities and institutions responsible for delivering justice, while continuing their peaceful protest.

They expressed disappointment that, despite their efforts, no action has been taken under the law to ensure justice. They said Mahmood Lango’s wife and children are enduring severe emotional distress due to his continued disappearance.

The family appealed to senior authorities to ensure his safe recovery.

Addressing the gathering, Niaz Muhammad called on the government to secure the recovery of Mahmood Ali Lango and all other missing persons. He stated that if any allegations exist against the missing individuals, they should be presented before the courts and granted the right to legal defence in accordance with the law.

Enforced disappearances have remained a contentious issue in Balochistan for years, with human rights organisations and families of the missing continuing to demand accountability and due process.
