Balochistan: Student Found Dead After Months-Long Disappearance
TURBAT, BALOCHISTAN: An 18-year-old Balochistan student who had been missing for over three months was found dead in the Banuk-e-Chadai area of Kech district.
According to sources, Pakistani forces abducted the victim, Jan Muhammad from Gumazi, Tump, in the Jusak area of Turbat on January 24, 2026. According to his family, he was disappeared without explanation, and they spent months searching for him in fear and uncertainty.
When his body was discovered on May 13, it reportedly showed signs of torture and gunshot wounds. Family members identified him through his student identification card. Jan Muhammad was an eighth-grade student at the time of his disappearance.
Residents described the discovery as shocking and the incident has sparked renewed concern about the safety of young people in Balochistan.
Human rights observers have noted that enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings have been ongoing concerns in Balochistan. Cases such as this highlight the vulnerability of individuals, particularly young students, in areas affected by political tensions and security operations.
