Family of Hamidullah Arababi appeals for his release

DOZZAAP (Zahedan): On April 21st, 2019, the Iranian Intelligence Agents (Chabahar wing) arrested Hamidullah Arbabi aka Obaidullah from his home in the village of Mehban in the city of Geh, Iranian occupied Balochistan.

The whereabouts of  Mr. Arbabi, a father of four children, remains unknown and his family has not been informed about his well-being since his arrest.

According to the Rasank Facebook page, officers who had arrested Arbabi had told the family that they belong to Chabahar Intelligence wing of (Islamic Republic’s intelligence department), but the next day when the family visited the Chabahar intelligence Office, the office said that it was unaware of Mr Arbabi’s arrest.

The report says that Iranian intelligence has been putting pressure on Arbabi’s family not to report his arrest and instead announce that he went abroad.

The family of Mr. Arbabi has expressed their worst fear that the very denial of his arrest by the Chabahar intelligence service is a clear indication that something bad has happened to him.

The family of Mr. Arbabi has asked the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHCR) to put pressure on Iran for his immediate and safe release.

Zubeda Mullahzai the wife of Mr Hamidullah Arbabi in a video message has requested all freedom-loving people to raise voice against her husband’s arrest and disappearance.

In a brief statement the International Voice of Baloch Missing Persons, IVBMP, has also called on all international human rights organizations; United Nations Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Asian Human Rights Commission to take notice the illegal arrests of Baloch people by the Iranian regime.

Meanwhile, Baloch Human Rights activists ran a twitter campaign to be the voice for Mr Arbabi and his family.

The activists used Hashtags #WhereIsArbabi to highlight his illegal arrest and urged concern authorities for his release.
