Balochistan: Another two inmates executed in Dozzaap central prison

Dozzaap (Zahedan): According to the Baloch Activists Campaign, on Wednesday, January 20 two other Baloch citizens, Younes Jamshidzai son of Malik Mohammad from Khash, and Shams uddin Bajizai son of Ibrahim, a Baloch from Afghanistan, a resident of Rutak village executed along with Abdul Rouf Kubdani in Central Prison Zahedan.

The two citizens were arrested on January 18, 2014, on murder charges and were sentenced to seven years imprisonment in Zahedan central jail.

Social media news page Rasank quoted a source as saying, “Shams Uddin Bajizai was transferred to the quarantine ward in October 2017 after failing to provide 80,000 Tomans for his treatment of his eye due to financial difficulties. He was subject to severe mental and physical torture by staff at the isolation ward.”

It is important to note that in the last 34 days; at least 20 Baloch citizens have been executed in Dozzaap Central Prison.  The Baloch civil and political activists termed these latest executions as unprecedented and have expressed concern.

The reason for this latest surge in executions of Baloch prisoners is still unknown and it is not clear what triggered Iran to accelerate such inhumane acts. Baloch analysts, however, say that whenever the world media is not focused on Iran, it tends to execute more people.

A Baloch activist from Iranian occupied Balochistan told Balochwarna news that since presently world media is more focused on American elections and coronavirus, Iran thinks this allows it to get away with its crimes against humanity in Balochistan.

He also said that another reason is the silence of international human rights organisation including Amnesty International and the UN on Iran’s violations of human rights of Baloch and other oppressed nations.
