Balochistan: BLA Accepts Multiple Attacks on Pakistani Forces in Kharan
KHARAN, BALOCHISTAN: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a series of coordinated attacks on Pakistani security and military forces in Kharan, Balochistan.
According to statements issued by Azad Baloch, the spokesperson of BLA, on April 21, the BLA said it targeted the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) office in Kharan’s Red Zone with three consecutive hand grenade attacks. The explosions caused panic among agency personnel and damaged property. The BLA warned that such operations against Pakistani forces would continue with increased intensity.
On April 20, the BLA carried out hours-long checkpoints and snap inspections on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) highway in Kharan. The group said the operation aimed to monitor enemy movements, prevent exploitation of Baloch resources and ensure the safety of local residents. Vehicles travelling the route were stopped and inspected due to concerns that Pakistani intelligence agents and military personnel often travel covertly, sometimes using public vehicles to conceal their identities.
According to the BLA, local residents cooperated with the operation, demonstrating support for the group’s objectives.
Azad Baloch further said that on April 12, BLA fighters launched a well-planned assault on a Pakistani military camp in the Washk Shahugiri area. The attack, conducted in the evening with automatic weapons and rocket launchers, killed five personnel and injured more than seven. Reinforcement troops sent to the scene were also targeted, resulting in additional casualties.
The group said that its fighters returned safely to their bases following the operation.
The BLA emphasised that its ongoing campaign is focused on Pakistani military and intelligence personnel, their collaborators and projects perceived as exploitative of Baloch resources. These attacks highlight the persistent unrest in Balochistan and the continued threat to security along key transport routes, including the CPEC corridor.
