Balochistan: Previously Disappeared Man Killed in Custody, another shot dead
PANJGUR/TURBAT, BALOCHISTAN: Two separate deaths in Balochistan within days of each other have intensified concerns over enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and violence against civilians, according to statements issued by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee.
In the first incident, 21-year-old Muhsin, a resident of Suleman Bazar in Paroom, Panjgur, was found dead after being subjected to enforced disappearance for 66 days. His body was recovered from the Kallag Koor area of Paroom during the Eid holidays on May 19, 2026.
Muhsin son of Muslim, worked as a driver and was described as the primary source of support for his financially struggling family. According to the statement, he was taken into custody by Frontier Corps personnel on March 16, 2026, from the Jeerak crossing point in Paroom and remained missing for more than two months before his body was discovered.
According to the BYC statement, Muhsin was held in detention and later killed in custody.
In a separate incident reported from Drachko Dasht in Turbat, Kech district, an elderly farmer identified as Sheerdil Baloch was killed during firing by Frontier Corps personnel on May 21, 2026.
Sheerdil son of Qadir Bakhsh, was reportedly working on his farmland when security personnel opened fire near the area. Local residents stated that he was struck during the firing and died on his farm.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee condemned both incidents, describing them as part of a broader pattern of violence and human rights abuses in Balochistan. The group said that abductions without formal charges, prolonged disappearances and recovery of bodies have left families across Balochistan living in fear and grief.
The organisation also expressed concern over what it described as the worsening security and humanitarian situation in the region, stating that ordinary civilians, including labourers and farmers, are increasingly becoming victims of violence.
Calling for international attention, the committee appealed to the United Nations and global human rights organisations to investigate the incidents and push for accountability, civilian protection, and justice for affected families in Balochistan.
