FBM to Hold International Protests Against Pakistan’s Nuclear Tests

LONDON: The Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) has announced peaceful protest demonstrations in the Netherlands, Germany and the United Kingdom to raise awareness about, and condemn, the nuclear tests conducted by Pakistan in Balochistan on 28 May 1998.

These tests caused severe environmental damage and long-term health problems for local populations across Balochistan.

The protests aim to highlight the devastating effects of the nuclear tests, including the spread of diseases among residents, environmental pollution, and the contamination and destruction of agricultural land and soil in Balochistan.

The Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) called upon human rights organisations, environmental activists, members of the media and all concerned individuals to stand in solidarity with the people of Balochistan and support their demand for justice, equality and freedom for the Baloch people.

The FBM has also requested human rights organisations, environmental groups, media representatives and the global community to stand in solidarity with Baloch citizens and pressure authorities to remove nuclear hazards from Balochistan.

The FBM notes that annual protests have been held for nearly three decades, each year commemorating the nuclear tests and drawing international attention to their devastating aftermath. These campaigns have become a central platform for the Baloch nation to advocate for environmental safety, public health and regional sovereignty.

“The nuclear tests were not just a display of military power—they were a disaster for the people and land of Balochistan,” the FBM spokesperson said. “Our call to the world is simple: recognise the suffering, support the Baloch people’s struggle and demand that nuclear hazards be removed from our land.”
