Quetta: Sit-in Protest Enters 16th Day For Khadija Baloch’s Release

SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN:  The sit-in protest in front of Bolan Medical Complex entered its 16th day today as demonstrators continue to demand the safe release of Khadija Baloch, a young woman detained ‘solely for her Baloch identity’ her colleagues say.

Khadija’s prolonged detention has caused immense distress to her family. Her young daughter has been left waiting on the streets for her mother’s return, while her parents remain engulfed in fear, pain and hope. Protesters and family members describe the ongoing situation as deeply traumatic, highlighting the emotional toll on the family and community.

Despite sixteen days of peaceful demonstrations, authorities have yet to respond or take meaningful action to address the protesters’ demands.

Organisers say Khadija’s case represents the broader struggle of individuals who have become victims solely because of their identity, asserting that continued silence is no longer an acceptable response.

In a social media post, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) maintained that the sit-in has drawn attention to the human rights concerns in the region, emphasising that when identity itself is criminalised, resistance becomes a moral and social duty.
