Germany: Baloch Diaspora to Protest Against Activists’ Life Sentences and Human Rights Violations in Balochistan

The Baloch diaspora in Germany has announced a peaceful protest to oppose the Quetta Anti-Terrorism Court’s decision to sentence human rights activists Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Subghatullah Shahji to life imprisonment.

The diaspora views the court’s decision as a direct violation of justice, constitutional principles and basic human rights, calling it part of an ongoing crackdown aimed at suppressing dissenting Baloch voices.

Organisers emphasise that Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Subghatullah Shahji have long advocated for the fundamental human rights of the Baloch people, an end to enforced disappearances, and a halt to extrajudicial killings. They argue that implicating peaceful activists in terrorism cases and sentencing them to life imprisonment completely violates the requirements of justice and the principles of a fair trial.

The demonstration will take place in front of the central station in Cologne on Saturday, July 11. While the protest was initially scheduled to take place in Hanover, it has been moved to Cologne due to police permitting requirements.

The organisers appeal to the Baloch community living in Germany, human rights defenders, civil society members, journalists, and all supporters of justice to participate in this peaceful protest to stand up for human rights and the rule of law.
