Balochistan: No End to Abductions and Custodial Killings

QUETTA: On Monday, May 27, 2024, Pakistani forces detained two individuals from Turbat’s Koh-e-Murad area in the Kech district.

The detainees include Faisal Sawali, an employee of ATF, and Rafeeq Sawali, who were reportedly beaten and arrested by the forces.

Additionally, the officials confiscated the mobile phones of everyone in the house.

In a separate incident, the tortured body of a previously abducted Baloch individual was recovered from Dera Murad Jamali on the same day.

The victim was identified as Yar Mohammad son of Jala, who was abducted on Saturday night along with Akhtar son of Khair Muhammad. Both were taken by Pakistani forces to an unknown location.

While Yar Mohammad’s body has been found, the whereabouts of Akhtar remain unknown at the time of this report.

Earlier, on May 9, Pakistani forces abducted two residents from the Reko area of Nushki district.

The victims, Noor Ahmed son of Syed Khan Samalani and Sahib Khan son of Jalal Khan Samalani were taken while travelling to Nushki City from the main highway by security agencies.

Meanwhile, in Quetta, a Baloch mother recorded her statement at the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons protest camp about her son’s disappearance nine years ago.

The mother of Noor Alam Marri, who has been seeking information about her son for the past nine years, said, “I have only one son. Yes, I am very worried. I request you to give me information regarding my son to save me from lifelong agony.”

The continuous abductions and custodial killings in Balochistan highlight the severe human rights violations in the region, leaving many families in distress and uncertainty.
