Balochistan: BYC Ramps Up Protest Campaign Against Enforced Disappearances, State Oppression

SHAAL (QUETTA): The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) continues its widespread protest campaign across Balochistan, condemning enforced disappearances, fake encounters, arrests of political leaders and activists, and systematic state repression.
In the wake of BYC’s latest statement, large-scale peaceful demonstrations were held today in Kharan and the coastal town of Gadani near Hub Chowki. Protesters, carrying placards and banners, marched through the streets demanding justice, the recovery of missing persons and an end to state-led atrocities.
According to the BYC, these protests are a direct response to grave human rights violations occurring in Balochistan. The group specifically pointed to recent arrests of prominent individuals including Mahrang Baloch, Beebow Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, Beebagr Baloch, and Shah Ji Sabghatullah. The organisation expressed deep concern over delays in judicial proceedings and government apathy, which have only intensified public anger.
In Kharan, the rally began at Nawab Akbar Bugti Stadium and passed through key parts of the city. A large number of people including women, children, and the elderly participated in the protest, demanding the immediate release of forcibly disappeared individuals and an end to state violence.
Simultaneously, the BYC Lasbela chapter held a peaceful rally at Gadani Beach, where activists addressed the local community, denouncing state repression and encouraging citizens to speak out against injustice.
In addition, a protest was held yesterday in Mastung town, where BYC supporters condemned the ongoing state repression and the continuous imprisonment of its leadership under trumped-up charges. The protest drew attention to the systematic campaign to silence dissent and crush peaceful political mobilisation.
These demonstrations are part of BYC’s Balochistan-wide campaign and mass mobilisation against enforced disappearances, targeted killings, and staged encounters carried out by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and other state institutions.
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful resistance, stating that the campaign will continue until all forcibly disappeared persons are recovered, detained leaders receive justice, and the cycle of violence in Balochistan is brought to an end.
