Baloch Liberation Army Claims Responsibility for Attacks in Balochistan

SHAAL (QUETTA): The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks in Balochistan, including a pre-emptive strike on security forces in Kalat and coordinated bombings targeting office a senior police official in Kharan.

In a statement issued on July 13, BLA spokesperson Azad Baloch said the attacks were part of a broader strategy to disrupt Pakistani military operations and challenge the presence of state-affiliated personnel in the region.

According to the statement, the Kalat operation began on the evening of July 12, when BLA fighters established forward combat positions in the Bencha area, along the Quetta–Karachi RCD Highway. The group claimed it controlled the area for several hours, setting up vehicle checkpoints and resisting attempts by security forces to regain control.

The BLA further added in its statement that its fighters ambushed a military convoy travelling from the nearby city of Khuzdar, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers and injuries to several others. The group said its fighters used guerrilla tactics and followed operational protocols aimed at avoiding civilian harm.

On July 13, the BLA claimed responsibility for three bomb attacks targeting the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Rakhshan Zone in the city of Kharan.

The group accused the DIG of facilitating military activities under the guise of policing, and said the attacks were timed to coincide with shift changes at the facility. Reports suggest the blasts caused significant structural damage, though there were no immediate confirmations of casualties from local authorities.

The BLA, which seeks an independent Baloch state, has carried out numerous attacks on Pakistani security forces, infrastructure projects, and entities linked to what it considers economic exploitation in the resource-rich but underdeveloped region.

In its statement, the BLA reaffirmed its commitment to armed resistance, vowing to continue such operations till independence of Balochistan.
