Pakistani Forces Abduct Baloch Man from Karachi

QUETTA: Mir Yousaf Qalandarani son of tribal chief Sardar Ali Mohammad Qalandrani, a resident of Tutak Balochistan has been abducted by Pakistani security forces from Karachi late Monday night.

According to family sources, Yousaf was detained in the presence of Sindh Police before being taken to an undisclosed location. Since then, there has been no information about his whereabouts.

His brother confirmed the incident on social media platform X, saying the family fears Yousaf has become the latest victim of enforced disappearance.

Yousaf’s case mirrors that of his three brothers, who were also forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces previously and remain missing.

The Qalandarani family has endured a long history of such disappearances. At least eleven members of the family were abducted around fourteen years ago and continue to remain in illegal and undisclosed custody of Pakistani forces. Among them are Yousaf’s three brothers and several other close kin.

Human rights activists say this pattern highlights the widespread and ongoing issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan, where families have been campaigning for the safe return of their loved ones. Despite years of protests and appeals, the state of Pakistan has not issued any statement regarding the fate of the missing Qalandarani family members, including the latest case of Yousaf.
