Balochistan: BMC Sit-In Protest Enters Fifth Day

SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: The sit-in protest in front of the Bolan Medical Complex (BMC) in Quetta, demanding the release of Khadija Baloch, has entered its fifth consecutive day today. Despite the ongoing protest, the provincial administration has yet to take any concrete action, continuing to use negotiations as a means of harassment and intimidation against participants.

Protesters, including members of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), have been voicing their outrage over the unlawful detention of Baloch individuals, particularly women, who have been subjected to forced disappearances and imprisonment under “inhumane conditions.”

In an effort to amplify their message, activists distributed pamphlets across several key locations in Quetta, including the BMC Hospital, Brewery Road, and Issa Nagri. The pamphlets accused the state of engaging in systematic repression, calling attention to the increasing number of Baloch people, particularly women, being detained without due process.

The BYC has made an urgent appeal to both the Baloch nation and international human rights organisations, urging them to speak out against the rising tide of state-sponsored violence and oppression. “We must raise our voices before it’s too late,” the statement reads, emphasising the growing concern over the safety and well-being of the Baloch people.

As the protest continues, the demand for Khadija Baloch’s release remains at the forefront of the demonstration, with organisers vowing to keep up the pressure until justice is served.
