Balochistan: BLA Accept Responsibility for Six Attacks on Pakistani Forces

SHAAL, BALOCHISTAN: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks and operations carried out across different parts of Balochistan over the past several days, including assaults on Pakistani security forces, a raid on a police station and actions targeting vehicles transporting minerals.

In the latest statement issued on May 9, the BLA spokesperson Azad Baloch said that members of the BLA raided the central police station in Mangochar, Kalat district, on Friday afternoon, May 8, at around 2 p.m.

According to the statement, BLA members detained DSP Muhammad Yousaf son of Muhammad Karim, along with his guard, and took them away along with their vehicle.

The organisation said the detainees were being investigated over “various cases and complaints” and claimed that proceedings had been initiated by “Baloch National Court,” and the Baloch nation will be updated about the decision.

The BLA also claimed responsibility for a sniper attack targeting Pakistani security personnel stationed at a checkpoint in the Mangochar area of Kalat.

According to the group, the attack took place on the morning of May 7 at around 8 a.m. The statement said BLA fighters positioned themselves near the checkpoint and opened fire when security personnel emerged from the camp, forcing them to retreat into their bunkers. No casualty figures were provided.

In another statement released the same day, the group claimed that three Pakistani security personnel were killed and two others injured in an ambush carried out on May 6 in the Shirinab area of Mastung.

The BLA said its fighters surrounded a security checkpoint and launched an attack from multiple directions at around 5 p.m. The statement alleged that the targeted personnel took shelter inside defensive positions during the assault.

The organisation further claimed responsibility for an attack on a Frontier Corps (FC) checkpoint in the Kadh Kocha Bidrang area of Mastung on the night of May 8.

According to the statement, the assault took place between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. and involved heavy automatic weapons and rocket launchers. The BLA claimed the attack forced security personnel at the checkpoint to take cover.

Earlier, on May 8, the BLA announced that its fighters had established a blockade on the Kharan–Gwash CPEC Link Road at around 9 a.m. The group said the operation was aimed at vehicles transporting minerals, which it accused state-backed entities of extracting unlawfully from Balochistan.

According to the statement, several truck drivers attempted to flee after ignoring the checkpoint. The BLA claimed its fighters fired warning shots and punctured the vehicles’ tyres to stop them. The trucks were then searched, and some reportedly sustained partial damage. No casualties were reported in the incident.

In a separate statement dated May 8, the group also claimed responsibility for a sniper attack on Pakistani security forces in the Morgend area of Kalat. The BLA said the attack took place on May 1 at around 11 a.m. and targeted a military checkpoint. According to the BLA statement, the attack caused losses to Pakistani forces.
