The Broken Treaties of Occupation: A Manifesto for Absolute Baloch Sovereignty

To the global Baloch diaspora and the resilient souls guarding our ancestral mountains and coasts:

The history of Balochistan is not the history of a Pakistani province; it is the history of a sovereign nation-state that was stolen at gunpoint. For over seven decades, the illegitimate, brutal, and deeply cowardly military apparatus of Pakistan has tried to rewrite our past with the blood of our people. They treat our sovereign land as a conquered colony and our populace as targets for systemic genocide.

But a nation that remembers its history cannot be destroyed. We do not beg for rights from an occupying force. We demand the restoration of our stolen independence, backed by the very international laws and historical treaties that the state of Pakistan shattered.

As our ancestors declared:

“Mae sardagaar mae baaj ent.”(My land is my honour and my victory.)

The Historical Truth: A Sovereign Nation Betrayed

Let the world and every young Baloch remember the legal bedrock of our sovereignty. Balochistan’s independence was never a gift from Islamabad; it was our historical reality.

The Treaty of 1876: Long before the artificial state of Pakistan was conceived on the drawing boards of British partition, the British Empire recognised the independent status of the Khanate of Kalat (Balochistan) via the Treaty of 1876. Unlike the princely states of British India, Balochistan maintained direct, sovereign treaty relations with the British Crown as an independent allied state.

The Standstill Agreement of August 4, 1947:

In the immediate prelude to partition, a formal roundtable conference was held between the British, the upcoming state of Pakistan (represented by Muhammad Ali Jinnah, real name Jinnahbhai Poonja Meghji), and the Khan of Kalat. All parties signed the Standstill Agreement, explicitly recognising that the Khanate of Kalat would revert to its independent, sovereign status as it existed before British intervention.

The Declaration of Independence (August 11, 1947): While Pakistan was still forming, Balochistan officially declared its independence. For nearly nine months, the sovereign Baloch State operated its own bicameral parliament (the Dar-ul-Umra and Dar-ul-Awam). In those sacred halls, our leaders unanimously rejected any merger with Pakistan, declaring that we shared no cultural, linguistic, or historical bonds that justified the erasure of our sovereignty.

The Barbaric March of a Cowardly Military

How did Pakistan respond to these sacred, legal agreements? Not with diplomacy, but with the raw, lawless brutality that defines its military high command to this day.

On March 27, 1948, the Pakistani armed forces marched into Kalat, detaining the Khan and his family at gunpoint and later coercing him to sign an illegal instrument of accession. This was not an integration; it was an armed invasion. It was an act of international piracy that birthed the ongoing resistance.

For decades, the Pakistani military mechanism and its sinister subsidiaries like the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI), and the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) have operated with the fragile ego of a coward. They lack the courage to face political critique, so they muzzle it. They lack the legitimacy to win the hearts of the Baloch people, so they attempt to break their spirits.

The Cowardice of Secret Dungeons: A professional military fights on open battlefields. A cowardly, barbaric entity kidnaps unarmed students, poets, and doctors from their homes in the dead of night.

The Barbarism of “Kill-and-Dump”: Lacking the evidence to present before any civilised court of law, the ISI and FC resort to the informal, psychopathic doctrine of torturing our intellectuals, carving numbers into their flesh, and dumping their mutilated bodies in remote wildernesses to terrorise our families into silence.

The Weaponisation of Proxies: To complement their state terror, the military backs radicalised sectarian death squads local criminals and religious extremists armed by military handlers to assassinate Baloch nationalists and fragment our secular, progressive society.

They target our engineers, our lawyers, and our educators because they know that an educated Baloch is the ultimate threat to their colonial theft. They want to turn Balochistan into an intellectual desert so they can loot our gold in Reko Diq and our gas in Sui without resistance.

As our old proverb reminds us:

“Loghe waja digaare waja.”(The master of the house is the master of the land.)

We are the rightful masters of this house, and no foreign contract can strip us of our ancestral right.

The Final Stand Against Slavery

Let it be known to the generals in Rawalpindi and their corrupt political puppets: your checkpoints, your heavy artillery, and your multi-billion-dollar colonial projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) are built on quicksand. You cannot build an empire on a foundation of stolen land and forced disappearances.

When our mothers and daughters like those of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee march peacefully, and your cowardly forces respond with water cannons, tear gas, and fabricated terrorism charges, you do not display strength. You display total moral bankruptcy. You display the panicked terror of an occupier who knows the end is near.

Our national code is simple,

“Baloch gulami na mannit.”(A Baloch will never accept slavery.)

To the global Baloch nation:

“Wahdy Watan jant tawar tara, goda wata bygwaah ma kan” (When the homeland calls out to you, do not allow yourself to become lost or indifferent.)

Reject their sham provincial assemblies. Reject their rigged courts. Throw off the shackles of tribal division. We must unite under the single, unyielding banner of historical truth. Our goal is not reform within a broken, brutal state framework. Our goal is the complete reclamation of our ancestral land, Free Balochistan.

“Balochistan Balochani Int!”(Balochistan belongs to the Baloch!)
