Pakistan’s involvement in international terrorism and the Baloch national issue

The consciousness of nationalism was the only commonality among those subjugated nations who appeared on the world map in 20th century as sovereign states which shared a common historical background. But the nations compressed into the unnatural single entity of Pakistan, neither possess any common historical background nor do they have any common interest. Above all deep in their hearts they never felt that they were a single nation. Until 1940 the word ‘Pakistan’ didn’t even exist. It was the British Raj that created Pakistan to safeguard its future interests at the end of its imperial/colonial rule over Indian subcontinent. Just as Pakistan’s unnatural existence became possible only at the expense of other nations’ sovereignty, exactly in the same way Pakistan’s very existence is totally dependants on the exploitation of other nations’ cultural and natural resources. All administrative powers were assigned to the British made Punjab army to control other nations. The Baloch, Sindhi and Pashtun were forced to submerge into this unnatural state.

As submissive to British rule, Punjab, inherently, was bestowed upon all post-colonial war machineries with which it not only easily succeeded in controlling the already subjugated nations, but also it unilaterally usurped the state power to decide the fates of other nations, i.e. the Baluch, Sindhi and the Pashtuns.

Pakistan’s emergence badly disrupted the balance of power in the region. As spoiled child of British Empire, Punjabi led Pakistan started a war against India over Kashmir in the next year of its separation from India. To achieve its expansionist designs, Pakistan hardly left a stone unturned to terrorize the innocent Indians people in the form of bomb blasts and illegal border crossing into Jammu and Kashmir and other adjacent bordering area thereby committing terror crime against Indian troops and public.

Pakistan and India fought three major wars because of Pakistan’s illegal intrusion into India’s internal affairs. Despite suffering from humiliating defeat each time, Pakistan never stopped its violations of the sanctity of border. Pakistan sent it proxy outfits and military personnel in the guise of civilians and Mujahideen to carry out cross border terrorism in J&K, which has constantly disrupted the public social life in that part of India.

On the other hand since its creation Pakistan has started to consider Afghanistan its fifth unnatural province and started middling in Afghanistan internal affairs. After the Saur Revolution – the name given to the communist People’s Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA) during the Cold War – when the Russian forces entered Afghanistan to help consolidate the revolution, Pakistan army took the advantage of the situation. They [Pakistan Army], after garnering the support of Western powers, started to arm and train youth from religious seminaries and sent them to Afghanistan as its doctrine of ‘strategic depth’.

Eventually, Pakistan succeeded in occupying Afghanistan in the form of Taliban through its proxy terrorist groups. Hence, it committed the worst type of aggression against sovereign Afghanistan and it ruined its peace, stability and progress of the sovereign state of the Afghan people for ever.

Although, both Iran and Pakistan have a common policy to tackle the Baloch issue and they are on the same page in this regard but after the Islamic revolution of Shiite rule, the relations of both countries have become hostile. The self-proclaimed crown-less king of Muslim World – Saudi Arabia – has created several anti-Shiite proxy outfits with the help of Pakistan and declared a war against Iran’s Shiite regime of Iran. It means Pakistan right from its inception became a constant nuisance and a threat to all its neighbours.

Pakistan’s intrusions and intentions to destroy peace are not only confined to its neighbours but it is also putting the world peace at high risk with the passage of time. The list of Pakistan proxy organisation is quite long. It has created Taliban to interfere in Afghanistan internal affairs and to destabilize India it has created Jaish e Mohammed in the name of Kashmiri Mujahedeen. Pakistan is also formed the Lashakar-e-Jhangvi against Shiite regime of Iran to achieve its morbid interests, under the doctrine of “strategic depth”.

After receiving sufficient funds and sophisticated weapons from Pakistani army, these religious outfits have become so powerful that they’ve now started running a parallel and undeclared state within their sphere of influence in the regions and they secretly being support by Pakistan army. These groups are not only involved in terrorism in the region but they are also connected to several acts of terrorism around the world. A recent study released by a US think Tank group also indicated that most major terror plots against Western Countries including America and Canada had links to Pakistan.

Pakistan is becoming a cancer for the region and with the passage of time the cancer deteriorates instead of heeling that is why the existence of Pakistan has become a threat. Since Modi came into power in India, Pakistan has started violating the Line of Control and continuous minor attacks on LOC have become a routine. It is said that main reason for the on-going negative developments on LOC are the recently meetings of Pakistani authorities’ Kashmiri leadership. On the other hand India has not only strongly protested against these meetings but senior leaders of ruling Junta Party have warned that if Pakistani continue to meet and support the Kashmiri leaders then India might also meet pro-freedom Baloch leaders. Previously Pakistan in an effort to conceal its violation of Line of Control and to continue its intrusions in India has been blaming India for supporting the Baloch liberation movement whereas as both Baloch pro-freedom leaders and India have rejected such accusations.

In this regard the Pakistani state had included the issue of Balochistan in their agenda of negotiations with India former Prime Minister Mr Manmohan Singh at Sharm-el Sheikh. India has on several occasions and different forums asked Pakistan to provide evidence of its alleged involvement in Balochistan. Pakistan till this day has failed to bring forward any substantial evidence of Indian involvement in Baloch freedom movement.

However, this time a senior leader, Mr Subramanian Swamy, of BJP ‘Bharatiya Janata Party’ has threaten Pakistan that they will start speaking with pro-freedom Baloch leadership, if Pakistan keeps raising the issue of Kashmir. This is the first time that Baloch have been addressed as a separate nation by an Indian senior leader but on practical grounds India has not supported the Baloch people on any forum so far.

While Pakistan and India’s conflict on bordering region continues to worsen, the Afghan government is also extremely displeased with Pakistan and it blames Pakistan for instigating acts of terror in Afghanistan. Recently Pakistan army have fired rocket launchers on Afghan territories and the Afghan army also in retaliation have been firing rockets into Pakistan’s controlled areas. Similarly the Iranian forces have recently killed an official of Pakistan FC (Frontier Corps) during an attack. Pakistan’s simultaneous intrusions illustrate that it has become a threat to its neighbours and the growing extremist forces in Pakistan are planning terrorist activities around the world.

Pakistan is rapidly becoming a threat for the world peace and the international community should devise a serious strategy to neutralise Pakistan’s expansionists and terrorising intentions otherwise the rising extremism in Pakistan will get stronger and become even a greater threat than DAESH /IS for the world community.

It is the need to time that India and other civilised nations should do more than just issuing statements in support of Baloch nation. As the Kurds with support of international community have emerged as a real secular force in Middle East to stand against the religious extremism in that region in the same way the Baloch can emerge as a secular force in this region [Central Asia].

Baloch have been struggling to regain their independence form past six decades and they wish to establish a secular and democratic Baloch state. The civilised nations around world including India should morally, politically and diplomatically support the Baloch nation because the Baloch have the ability to become a strong secular and tolerant force in the region and they can stand against Pakistani intrusion in the world. A strong, secular, democratic and free Balochsitan can guarantee peace and stability in the region and in world.
