 Balochistan: Struggling for my father’s release from past 15 years: Farooq Bangulzai

QUETTA: The son of enforced-disappeared Ali Asghar Bangulazi said that his father was abducted on 18 October, 2001 exactly 15 years ago on this day.

The Baloch tailor Mr Bangulzai’s son Ghulam Farooq Bangulzai said, “We have been struggling peacefully and all using democratic mediums to seek justice and release of our father. We have knocked the door of all department but none has provided us justice.

“We are eight brothers and sisters and because of father’s disappearance we have been going through psychological trauma and torture.”

Mr Bangulzai expressed these views during a press conference at the protest camp of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons in Quetta. He was accompanied by Chairman of VBMP, Mr Nasrullah Baloch, and other members of VBMP.

Ghulam Farooq said that his father was abducted on 18 October, 2001 along with Mohammad Iqbal in front of Degree college Quetta. “Mohammad Iqbal was later released but our father is still in the custody of security forces, he added.

He said after his release Mohammad Iqbal recorded his affidavits before Courts, government commission and other institutions where he confirmed that [Pakistan] security agencies abducted him and Ali Asghar Bangulzai.

“We have been hearing from different sources since 2008, 2010 and recently that my father Ali Asghar Bangulzai has been seen in the custody of security forces.

“from 2001 till the end of 2006 our father’s case was heard in Balochistan High Court and from February 2007 the Supreme Court started dealing with his case.”

He said the Human Rights Committee constituted by the Senate and government commission for the recovery of missing persons also heard the case of Ali Asghar Bangulzai. “In 2010 former Member of National Assembly Hafiz Hussain Ahmad also appeared before the commission and recorded his statement.”

The son of tailor Ali Asghar Bangulzai said that if there is any allegation against his father, he should be presented before the court otherwise he should be surfaced and immediately released.
