Balochistan: Shutter down strike observed in Turbat
QUETTA: A shutter-down strike was observed in Turbat area of Kech district in Balochistan, following a call from the families of abducted Baloch persons from various areas of Kech.
Alongside the relatives, BSO Pajjar, the Baloch Solidarity Committee, and Haq Do Tehreek supported the strike, leaving the city streets deserted and most shops, businesses and government office closed for the day.
According to a statement from the family members, a seminar will be held today at 5:30 pm at their sit-in vigil, where speakers will discuss human rights violations and the government’s inaction in locating their loved ones.
It is important to note that the families of the disappeared Baloch have been protesting in front of the DC office for the past fifteen days, with the government paying no attention to their demands.
The issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan has become very serious, with families protesting daily in different cities across Balochistan for the safe recovery of their loved ones.
The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, headed by Nasrullah Baloch, has been protesting and highlighting the issue for more than 20 years, since the abduction and disappearance of his uncle, Ali Asghar Bangulzai, in the early 2000s.
