Balochistan: Four Baloch Citizens, Including a Woman, Arrested in Iranian Military Raid in Taftan

The Iranian Military raided on a Baloch citizen’s residence in Gohar Koh, Taftan and arrested at least four individuals, including a woman of the same family.

According to the Baloch Activists Campaign, on Friday, November 1, 2024, four Baloch citizens were arrested during a military raid on a Baloch family’s home in Taftan district.

The identities of the arrested family members have been revealed as Rahima Dahmarda (36 years old), Younis Dahmarda (29 years old), both children of Abdul Aziz, Gul Mohammad Qalajai (approximately 41 years old, husband of Rahima Dahmarda), and Arif Qalajai (18 years old, son of Gul Mohammad and Rahima’s son). All are from the Gohar Koh area in Taftan.

The Iranian military forces raided the home of Gul Mohammad in the village of Gohar Koh, creating fear and chaos in the household. They humiliated the father of the family and detained the couple and their child, as well as the brother of the wife, who had been visiting the family. The family members were subjected to physical assault, verbal abuse, and mistreatment before being taken to an unknown location.

The family is from the impoverished section of society, with Gul Mohammad, the father, working as a labourer. His 18-year-old son and his brother-in-law, Younis (who had come from another village for a visit), tried to hide out of fear of being arrested and falsely accused by the military.

However, after being found by the soldiers, they were severely beaten. Younis was knocked unconscious multiple times, and he was revived using an electric shock from the military officers.

It is important to note that following the armed attack by Jaish al-Adl on the Iranian border guards in the Gohar Koh area of Taftan, which resulted in the deaths of 10 military personnel, pressure on Baloch citizens in the region has intensified.

The military forces continue arresting Baloch citizens without providing any judicial orders or informing them of the charges against them.
