QUETTA: The alarming rise in enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings continues unabated across Balochistan.
On February 12, 2025, Ibrahim Ali, a resident of Makuran, was abducted from his home at 4:30 a.m. by military security forces. His whereabouts remain unknown and his family members are desperately seeking information about his condition and location.
This case follows a growing pattern of abductions that have become all too familiar across Balochistan.
The previous day, on February 11, two residents of Tump Dazin, Farooq son of Abdul Hameed and Ilyas son of Abdul Hameed, were both forcibly disappeared by security forces. This marks the second time the brothers have been abducted; they were previously taken but later released.
In a separate case on February 11, 2025, Rodain Shakeel, a worker at a petrol pump in Pasni, district Gwadar, was forcibly disappeared from his home.
Earlier, on February 6, 2025, two more cases of enforced disappearance were reported in different locations. Adil son of Muneer Ahmed was abducted by Pakistani security agencies from Hub Chowki, and Mairaj Imam Baksh, a resident of Sharak Kech, was taken while sitting at a Balochistan hotel in Karachi. Both individuals have been missing since their abductions, adding to the growing number of such cases in recent weeks.
The continuous pattern of disappearances has left families devastated, with many describing their experiences as a form of collective punishment. The widespread fear among Baloch citizens is growing as the state’s military forces intensify their offensives in the Balochistan without accountability.
Human rights advocates and Baloch political groups have condemned these actions, describing them as part of a broader pattern of state-led violence against the Baloch population. They argue that the Baloch Nation is facing a grave genocide at the hands of the State of Pakistan, with families being torn apart by arbitrary abductions and extrajudicial killings.
