Free Balochistan Movement Announces Protest at The Hague
AMSTERDAM: The Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) Netherlands Branch has announced a peaceful protest to be held on September 30 in front of the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
The demonstration aims to raise awareness about ongoing state repression, human rights violations and the mass killing of innocent civilians in Balochistan.
The protest also seeks to pay tribute to the victims of the Zahedan massacre, which took place on September 30, 2022. On that day, following Friday prayers in the city of Zahedan, Iranian forces opened direct fire on peaceful worshippers and civilians.
The attack resulted in the deaths of dozens of Baloch civilians and left hundreds injured. The incident is widely regarded as one of the darkest chapters in Balochistan’s recent history, with victims and their families still waiting for justice.
FBM has stated that the protest in The Hague will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM local time in front of the International Court of Justice. In addition, the organization has announced a parallel protest to take place in Berlin, Germany, on the same day.
The Free Balochistan Movement is a pro-freedom political party led by prominent Baloch leader Hyrbyair Marri. The group advocates for the independence of a united and sovereign Balochistan and has consistently raised its voice at international forums against illegal and forcible occupation, exploitation and militarisation of Balochistan by occupying states.
In its public statement, FBM has called on the international community, human rights organisations, and media representatives to attend the demonstrations and support efforts to bring global attention to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Balochistan.
