Baloch Activist’s Brother Forcibly Taken by Pakistani Forces in Karachi

KARACHI, BALOCHISTAN: Pakistani security forces have abducted Dad Shashani, a resident of Karachi, into custody and transferred him to an undisclosed location.

Fozia Baloch Shashani, a Baloch activist and member of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee Karachi, said that her brother was forcibly taken from their home by state forces. She described the incident as traumatic, saying that her brother was dragged away in front of her and that attempts to request an FIR or official documentation were met with threats.

Despite visiting local police stations, Fozia Baloch said there has been no information regarding her brother’s whereabouts. She added that this is the second time Dad Shashani has been targeted; he was previously subjected to enforced disappearance but was later recovered.

Fozia Baloch added that the state was using unconstitutional methods to intimidate her and her family, and vowed to protest against her brother’s enforced disappearance.

She also urged political and human rights organisations to raise their voices and take action to secure his release.
