Balochistan: Five bodies of previously abducted Baloch found in Karachi
KARACHI: Five bodies found in a deserted area of Karachi on Tuesday have been identified as that of Baloch residents of Hub, Karachi local police confirmed on Wednesday.
According details a senior officer of Karachi police Mr Sheeraz told media: “the families have identified their loved ones and they said they that the victims were missing for one and half years.”
He said that there were on torture marks on the bodies and that all the five men were shot in their heads.
The victims were named as Rizwan son of Abdul Samad, Zafar aka Danish son of Mohammad Hussain, Rizwan son of Mohammad Hanif, Liaqat Ali son of Mohammad Ommar and Abdul Wahid son of Mohammad Ali.
The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, a local Human Rights Organisation, working for safe released of abducted Baloch alleges that Pakistan security forces disappeared around 18000 Baloch including women and children since the beginning of the new phase of Baloch freedom struggle in early 2001.
According to VBMP the state forces have killed more than 3000 Baloch activists in custody and dumped their tortured mutilated bodies in different areas of Balochistan and Karachi.
In January this year three mass graves were uncovered in Khuzdar, Balochistan containing at least 169 bodies according to Baloch sources.
The government of Pakistan, however, claims 17 bodies were found from those mass graves.
Meanwhile the on-going token hunger strike protest of VBMP against enforced-disappearances in Balochistan reached 1781 days on Wednesday at Quetta Press Club.
