Enforced disappearance in Balochistan: VBMP to approach ICJ

QUETTA: The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) chairman Nasrullah Baloch has said that the organisation will approach the International Court of Justice if Pakistani institutions fail to address the issue of enforced disappearances in Balochistan.

He said after consultation with the family members of abducted Baloch persons, who were disappeared many years ago, and enquiry of their cases have completed from court without any result.

“The organisation has decided to raise the issue with Human Rights Committee of Senate in the first phase and provide the details of cases to the committee. We will also contact with Provincial and federal government for the release of abducted persons to ensure justice for the abducted persons and their families,” He said.

He said that if the government tried to ignore the cases as they did in the past then the organisation (VBMP) will raise the issue with opposition parties and contact the Human Rights Organisations in second phase of the quest for justice.

“If the opposition and Human Rights Organisation also ignore our plea for justice then in the third phase of our struggle we will contact the International Community and request the United Nations to review the cases of enforced disappeared persons in Balochistan.

“In final and fourth phase of our struggle we will knock the door of International Court of Justice to ensure justice to the families of enforced-disappeared persons,” the VBMP said in their statement.

He said all those families who have not registered FIRs of the abduction of their loved ones, they should go to their local police stations and register FIRs and submit those papers with the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons so that the names of their loved ones will be added in the list of enforced-disappeared persons.
