Balochistan: Unabated Protests Against Enforced Disappearances Continue
Peace talks or return of the Devil?
By Aamir Mengal
There media reports about ‘peace talks’ between the United States and Afghan Taliban in Qatar. Every sane person in the world yearn for peace in his/her homeland and loves to live a peaceful life. It depends on peace with who is one talking about. Peace in the region is the need or hour and understandable.
Taliban! Who are they and what is their ideology? First of all, the ideology they follow it is not based on nationalism or secularism neither is it creative mindset to end 18 years of ‘civil war’ on Afghan soil. They don’t even know what the scenario is because those who are pulling the strings are sitting in Rawalpindi in Pakistan military General Head Quarters (GHQ) and decisions that come from Rawalpindi’s military headquarters will never be in the interest in Afghanistan and Balochistan. Hence the Taliban demand that Afghanistan should stop supporting Baloch proves that the Taliban are either a wing of Pakistan army or they are Pakistan army in plainclothes, as one Baloch patriot leader Hyrbyair Marri rightly said, ‘Taliban are Pakistan army without uniform.’
When Soviet Union decided to end the war with Mujahidin in 1989 and to leave Afghanistan with thousands of army personnel and signed a peace talks between Taliban and Najibullah government with promise on holy Quran not attack Najibullah government, then also the Pakistani GHQ based generals could not tolerate this peace talk between Mujahedeen and the Afghan government. After the withdrawal of Russian troops, Pakistan started a civil war in Afghanistan with the help of its proxies the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. The mayhem and destruction that Pakistan initial in Afghanistan after Dr Najib’s government continued until 9/11.
Pakistan realised that US attack on Afghanistan was imminent then it chose to become a US ally against the war on ‘terror’ – the terror that had its roots in Pakistan but even Pakistan used that to her advantage.
Through these puppets Afghan people are still being killed, Afghan leaders who were against Pakistan policies in Afghanistan, they were killed by the proxies of Pakistan. People like Ahmed Shah Masood who was an Afghan nationalist and was strongly against Pakistan’s interference in Afghanistan’s internal affairs. He faced lots of problems in 1990 by the head of Hezb-e-Islami leader engineer Gulbaddin Hekmatyar. In 2011 a Russian TV reporter ask ex CIA chief what is the Reason that war in Afghanistan is not ending?
Answer was Pakistan, because Mujahedeen were trained by Pakistan and they are still living in big cities of Pakistan, we just gave weapons & money to Pakistan, they were distributed by Pakistan to Mujahedeen, and that’s why that civil war between Ahmed Shah Masood and Gulbaddin Hekmatyar was started with support of Pakistan to destroy the Ahmed Shah Masood controlled areas and thousands of innocent Afghan people were killed by those proxies for control over Afghanistan.
The main criminal who enjoys killing innocent Afghan people and has murdered those Afghan nationalists who want Afghanistan to be a stable country in the region is Pakistan. The current peace talks between the USA and the so-called Taliban with the exclusion of Afghan government and Afghan people a farce. As Senator Usman Kakar said, ‘The people engaged in talks with the US are not the representative of Afghanistan, they are proxies of Punjab hence they are doing whatever Punjab tells them.’
It is a travesty of justice and a mockery of the sacrifices of hundreds of American and NATO soldiers as well as thousands of Afghans that the American policymakers are neglecting Afghan government and talking with criminals who have killed thousands of innocent people around the world. The enemies of peace in the region and around the world are Iran and Pakistan who have created havoc not only in Afghanistan, Balochistan and India but all over the world with their proxy wars. Peace in Afghanistan is only achievable when the Afghan people are made part of the peace talks and Baloch people are supported in their struggle for free Balochistan. As Hyrbyair Marri said, ‘an independent Balochistan is key to peace in Afghanistan.’
