Balochistan: No news of previously abducted Baloch poet, singer shot dead in Khuzdar

QUETTA: A Baloch singer of Brahui language was shot dead in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district on Sunday and the killers have managed to escape after committing the crime.

According to details, a Brahui language singer, Ghulam Mohammad Saqib, was shot dead near Jhalawan complex in Khuzdar.

The motives behind his killing could not be confirmed immediately.

The victim’s dead body was handed over to his family after completion of official formalities.

On March 10, Pakistani forces abducted two Baloch from district Dera Bugti’s Sui area. The victims have been named as Sawad son of Rahmat Bugti and Haleem son of Dilmurad Bugti.

Both men are residents of Uch area of Dera Bugti, Balochistan.

Meanwhile, the whereabouts of another Balochi language poet and writer Mr Nazar Mohammad (32) well-known with pen name Nazar Dost remain known after his abduction on 5 March 2019 from district Kech Balochistan.

Mr Nazar is also a sergeant in the Royal Army of Oman who is currently on two months leave and went to Balochistan to visit his family.

Mr Nazar Dost, who originally hails from Tanzala village in Kolwah district Awaran Balochistan, is the of five Balochi books, including three novels. His family has reiterated that he is only a literary person and has no affiliation with any political parties.

His holidays will end on the 20^th of March and he must be back to Oman to join his duty by this date or he will lose his job which will greatly affect his family.

Separately, on 3^rd March Pakistan forces abducted a Baloch youth named Shakoor son of Babu resident of Naodaz in Turbat district Kech Balochistan.

Sources reported that Shakoor is a police officer and was on his way to Turbat Police training centre when Pakistani forces abducted and disappeared him.

The whereabouts of Nazar Dost and Shakoor remained unknown until the filing of this report.
