Balochistan: Families and civil activists protest against the killing of two youth in Turbat
QUETTA: Women and children including the families of the victims staged a protest in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner Kech against the brutal killing of two youth in Heronak area of Turbat city in Balochistan last week.
The protesters, led by Syed Gulzar Dost convener of Turbat Civil Society, were carrying pictures of the two youths and chanted slogans for the arrest of their killers.
Addressing the protest, Turbat Civil Society Convener Syed Gulzar Dost, Mahrang Baloch and Durra Baloch said that the two innocent youths killed Heronk were students. The killing them is sheer brutality but sadly neither the motives for their murder were known nor could the administration arrest his killers.
“We do not yet know why or who killed these two students.”
He added that they were killed without any reason and their bodies were dumped and it is not yet known who the killers were.
He said that the administration has surrendered to the anti-social elements. People are scared and terrified while the administration is almost nonexistent.
He demanded that the killers should be immediately traced, arrested and punished. If this was not done, they would protest against the helplessness of the administration, he added
Later, Deputy Commissioner Kech assured the delegation of protesters that the killers would be traced and arrested, after which the protesters dispersed peacefully.
It is pertinent to mention that two persons identified as Mohammad Hanif son of Miran resident of Tijaban and Amir Bakhsh son of Zabad resident of Sangabad Tijaban were shot dead in Heronak area of Kech last week.
Sources reported that the duo were relatives of pro-freedom political activists and were killed as part of Pakistan’s ‘collective punishment policy’ against Baloch people.
