Balochistan: Two Previously Disappeared Men Killed in Custody

GWADAR, BALOCHISTAN:  Two cases of enforced disappearances ending in extrajudicial killings have drawn renewed calls for human rights accountability in Balochistan.

Ajmal Baloch, a labourer from Nasirabad, Turbat, Kech, was forcibly taken from Gwadar on 21 August 2025. After 256 days of uncertainty and anguish for his family, his body was recovered in Nalent, Gwadar, on 3 May 2026. Ajmal, the sole supporter of his poor family, never faced trial or legal proceedings.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee described his death as a grave violation of human rights, highlighting the emotional toll on families left waiting in hope for the return of their loved ones.

Similarly, Saeed Muhammad, a 49-year-old shopkeeper from Panwan, Jiwani, was abducted from his home on 9 December 2025 in the early hours of the morning. His family was kept in the dark for 145 days until his body was discovered dumped in Naleent Daro Guard on 3 May 2026.

Like Ajmal, Saeed was never brought before a court or allowed to defend himself. His family endured months of uncertainty, only to be confronted with the irreversible loss of their loved one.

Both killings have sparked urgent appeals from the Baloch Yakjehti Committee to international human rights organisations, calling for intervention, accountability and an end to the ongoing pattern of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings.

The committee emphasised that the people of Balochistan deserve justice, dignity and the right to live without fear.

These cases have intensified concerns over the human rights situation in Balochistan, underscoring the need for international attention and action to prevent further loss of life.
