Balochistan: Several Pakistani soldiers including a captain killed in BLA Attack

SHAAL, (QUETTA) September 1, 2026: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has accepted responsibility for a series of armed confrontations with Pakistani security forces in Balochistan, reporting significant casualties among Pakistani military personnel. The reports of clashes were made in statements issued by the BLA’s spokesperson, Azad Baloch, on September 1.

According to the BLA, one confrontation took place late on August 31 in the Talib area of Harnai. The group said its fighters encountered Pakistani forces at approximately 10 p.m. and launched an attack after taking up prepared positions. The BLA, in its statement, said that Pakistani forces attempted to surround its fighters and responded with mortar fire and quadcopters.

The group said, however, its fighters used guerrilla tactics to break through the encirclement and withdraw safely. According to BLA’s statement, Pakistani forces suffered personnel and material losses in the Harnai attack.

In a separate statement, the BLA took responsibility for a prolonged clash in the Dasht Goran area of Chagai district on August 31.

The group said its fighters established a roadblock and began conducting snap checks at approximately 6 p.m. It said that a Pakistani military convoy consisting of eight vehicles subsequently arrived in the area, accompanied by members of local “death squads.”

The BLA’s statement added that its fighters opened fire on the convoy and that four vehicles came under attack. According to the group’s account, the vehicles were heavily damaged, and the personnel inside them were killed. The organisation further added that one military vehicle was struck by a rocket and destroyed before being removed from the area by a crane. “Despite being greater in number, the Pakistani forces were unable to withstand the resistance of our brave fighters,” Azad Baloch said.

According to the BLA statement, 20 Pakistani personnel were killed in the fighting, including an army captain identified as Captain Obaid and additional personnel were wounded. It has been the practice of the Pakistani army to conceal the actual number of its killed soldiers and officers. In this incident as well, it is concealing, as per its usual practice, the number of personnel killed and wounded and its logistical losses.

The Pakistan authorities have also confirmed casualties from fighting in Chagai. According to the authorities, hours-long clashes between the Pakistani military and Baloch separatist fighters in Chagai resulted in casualties on both sides. Officials confirmed that a Pakistani Army officer holding the rank of captain was killed and four other personnel were wounded.

Authorities identified the deceased officer as Captain Obaid, a resident of Swabi, who was serving with the 60 Wing Dalbandin Rifles and had graduated from the 147 Long Course. The official confirmation provides independent support for the BLA’s identification of Captain Obaid as one of the Pakistani personnel killed in the fighting.

The BLA also said that Pakistani forces deployed drones during the engagement and remained in the area for several hours to evacuate casualties and damaged military vehicles. According to the group’s account, the fighting continued intermittently from approximately 6:30 p.m. until 4 a.m. The organisation said that local residents witnessed numerous ambulances operating in the area following the confrontation.

The BLA also announced the martyrdom of two of its own fighters during the Chagai confrontation, identifying them as Sangat Nasir, also known as Baba, and Sangat Bashir, also known as Shaukat.

Sangat Nasir, alias Baba, who was killed at Dasht Goran, Chagai, belonged to the Manguchar area of Balochistan. He joined the BLA in 2014. He was a highly courageous and hardworking fighter who possessed exceptional battlefield skills. During his twelve-year struggle, he played a key role in several important and decisive battles in the areas of Shor Parod, Nagaho, Chagai, and Dalbandin. The statement says that his name will always be written in golden letters for bringing destruction upon the enemy.

Martyr Sangat Bashir, alias Shaukat, belonged to Gazg in Kalat District. He began carrying out his national responsibilities through the BLA platform in 2015. He also carried out attacks against the enemy in Narmuk, Nagaho, Chagai, Saroon, Shor Parod, and other parts of Balochistan, and served as a vanguard fighter in Baloch militant operations. His bravery, strategy and exceptional spirit of sacrifice for his homeland were described as an inspiration for Baloch youth.

The organisation also accepted responsibility for an earlier clash on August 28 in the Karamb area of Panjpai. According to the BLA, its fighters were conducting a routine patrol when they encountered Pakistani forces. The group said its fighters took up positions and opened fire, resulting in a clash that lasted from approximately 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The BLA claimed that Pakistani forces suffered casualties.

The BLA reiterated its commitment that its war will continue with full intensity until the complete withdrawal of occupying Pakistan from Baloch territory and the independence of Balochistan.
